    01 / Workflow

    How it works

Students upload video to an assignment. The assessor watches the original and grades it. After a passing grade, sufficient viewing and the configured safety period, cron creates audio, still images and an audit manifest before deleting the original video.

Defaults: 90% viewing by the grading assessor, a 30-day safety period, stills every 10 seconds plus scene changes, and mono audio. Failed processing retains the video and retries up to three times.

    02 / Administration

    Install and activate

Install in /mod/assign/submission/videoevidence/. Check the release reference above for current Moodle compatibility. Install ffmpeg and ffprobe on the Moodle server and configure cron. Open Assignment → Submission plugins → Video evidence, check access and confirm the one-time unlock. Enable Video evidence in the assignment submission settings.

    03 / Retention warning

    Confirm your evidence policy first

The original video is deleted after conversion. Confirm your organisation accepts audio and stills as evidence before enabling this policy. Test mode bypasses the grade, viewing and safety-period checks and deletes originals immediately after conversion. Use it only with disposable test videos.
