    Production Ready — v1.0.75

AI Smart Workbook is fully released and available to install on your Moodle site today. Requires AI Grader Central Config (local_aiconfig) to be installed first.

⭐ Why this plugin is unlike anything else available

Interactive digital workbooks generated from competency descriptors — with AI checking

▸ Static PDF workbooks require manual checking against a marking guide. AI Smart Workbook generates the workbook structure (questions, tables, fill-in fields) from the unit competency descriptor and checks student responses against the expected competency evidence using AI — not a fixed answer key.

▸ Students complete the workbook inside Moodle — no download, no upload, no printed document. Responses are saved automatically and the teacher sees completion state in the Moodle gradebook.

▸ AI feedback is formative: students receive specific comments on each response identifying what evidence is present and what is missing, before the final submission is graded. This turns the workbook into a guided evidence-building process, not a one-shot test.

    What is AI Smart Workbook?

AI Smart Workbook takes the Word or PDF workbook you already have — complete with your teacher answers — and automatically generates an interactive student version with fillable answer boxes. Students open the activity in Moodle, type their answers (which auto-save as they go), and submit.

You then click AI Mark All Submitted — the AI compares every student answer against your uploaded model answers and rubric notes, suggests a mark and comment for each question, and presents the results for your approval. You tick, tweak, and release. Grades flow directly to the Moodle gradebook.

The teacher is always in the loop. No AI result ever reaches a student until you approve it.

    Key Features

    Word & PDF ingestion

Supports .docx and PDF uploads. Tables, bordered question boxes, blank lines, numbered lists, and section headings are all detected as answer fields or structure.

    Review gate before publishing

Teachers see and edit the AI-generated questions before students ever see the workbook. No AI output auto-publishes without your approval.

    Auto-save for students

Every keystroke is saved automatically. Students never lose work from accidental page closes, session timeouts, or network drops.

    AI marking with human approval

AI suggests a mark and comment for every question. Teachers tick, adjust, or override before any feedback reaches students.

    Group activity support

Students can record up to 4 group member names on their submission. Names are saved with the workbook and visible in the teacher marking console.

    Per-question marks & pass mark

Set marks per question during setup. Configure a passing grade — students see their total marks and whether they passed directly on the workbook.

    Re-answer flagging

Mark specific questions as 'needs re-answer'. The student is returned to those questions only and can resubmit — teacher then runs AI marking again on the revised answers.

    Printable marked PDF

Export a student's completed, marked workbook as a clean PDF — ideal for student portfolios, parent reporting, or compliance records.

    Teacher dashboard stats

Live stats strip shows total questions, total marks available, number of submissions received, and how many are awaiting marking.

    Moodle gradebook integration

Released marks post directly to the Moodle gradebook. Supports grade-to-pass for activity completion conditions.
