SCORM Compress
Automatically recompress locally uploaded SCORM ZIP packages when an activity is created or updated. Smaller packages replace the original only when compression saves at least 5%, with no external service and no AI-credit cost.
Automatic
Runs when a local SCORM activity is created or updated. There is no settings page, cron job or manual compression step.
Savings threshold
Replaces the stored package only when the recompressed ZIP is strictly smaller than 95% of the original.
Local processing
Uses PHP ZipArchive and Moodle file storage. SCORM content is not sent to LMS Labs or another external service.
SCORM Compress processes package files stored directly in Moodle for SCORM activities. It preserves package entry names and directory structure, then writes files with DEFLATE compression level 9.
- Local package ZIPs are eligible.
- External URL packages and non-ZIP files are ignored.
- Already efficient packages remain unchanged when savings are below 5%.
- Failures are skipped so a compression problem does not block activity saving.
