ASQA requires that your course delivers sufficient Volume of Learning to meet the NCVER nominal hours for each Unit of Competency. The VoL panel calculates total hours across all activity categories, compares them to the target, and automatically expands activity timings if the course comes up short — so your document always meets the requirement.
Hours are split across: Content Creator, AI Activities, Knowledge Check, Essay Maker, Assignments, Practical Assessment, Quizzes, and Self-Directed Study. Each section of the course contributes separately.
When scanned hours fall below the nominal target, a proportional expansion factor is applied across all categories. Self-Directed Study receives ~15% of the expanded total. The total always reaches the required hours.
If the RTO Compliance plugin is installed with NCVER data loaded, nominal hours are read automatically per unit code. Otherwise, teachers enter nominal hours manually in the activity settings.
